Lloyd Band Boosters

The color guard is a non-musical section that provides additional visual aspects to the performance. The color guard interprets the music that the marching band is playing via the synchronized spinning of flags, sabres, rifles, or through dance. The color guard uses different colors and styles of flags to enhance the visual effect of the marching band as a whole.

“Winter Guard” is just that - the guard that performs in the “winter” or off-season. Winterguard is much like Colorguard as far as the type of work performed - equipment includes flags, rifles, and sabres. Dance is also emphasized and is an important part of the routine. The missing element here is the band. There is no marching band, but rather the guard performs to recorded music.
